Earle Louder is retired Distinguished
Professor Emeritus of euphonium and tuba from Morehead State University
in Kentucky where he was Resident Artist for twenty-seven years.
Dr. Louder was, for twelve seasons, the Principal and Featured Euphonium
Soloist of The United States Navy Band in Washington, D.C., and
was for fifteen years Assistant Conductor, Principal Euphonium,
and featured Euphonium Soloist with Leonard B. Smith’s, Detroit
(MI) Concert Band. For twenty-four years, he was also the featured
Euphonium Soloist and principal euphonium with the Cleveland Orchestra’s
Blossom Center Festival Band in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.
Currently, Dr. Louder is the principal and featured euphonium soloist
with Keith Brion's New Sousa Band, the New Columbian Brass Band,
the Danville (KY) Advocate Brass Band, the Lexington (KY) Brass
Band, and the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp Festival Band where he is
a permanent faculty member and annually adjudicates the Leonard
Falcone International Euphonium/Tuba Solo Competition. He has conducted
the Blue Lake International Symphony Band and International Choral
Ensemble on tours to Europe six previous times. Dr. Louder also
performs euphonium and/or baritone horn on occasion with the Brass
Band of Battle Creek, MI, and tours occasionally with the River
City Brass Band of Pittsburgh, PA.
Dr. Louder holds degrees in Music Education and Euphonium Performance
from Michigan State University and Florida State University. At
Michigan State, he was a student of the renowned euphonium artist/teacher,
Leonard Falcone.
Dr. Louder's honors include the Morehead State University's prestigious
Distinguished Faculty Award, the Kentucky Universities’ Teacher
of the Year Award, and in 1998, the Tubists Universal Brotherhood
Association's (now the International Tuba and Euphonium Association)
highest honor, the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Dr. Louder is in great demand, nationally and internationally, as
guest soloist, clinician, adjudicator, and conductor. His performances
have taken him throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, Japan,
and South America. He is acclaimed as one of the world's finest
euphonium virtuosos. |
